During lockdown restrictions, data showed that people were using their cars less to travel around the city. If you own a car, would you consider using your car less as restrictions are lifted to maintain quieter streets?
- Over half of residents would consider using their car less to maintain quieter streets; most of these would walk or cycle more (43%).
- Just under a quarter do not own a car.
- People with a disability were less keen on using their car less; other options might not be as accessible to them due to their disability.
Not only are residents in older age groups less likely to stop using their car (40%+ of them said ‘No’), there are also more of them driving (less than a fifth do not own a car).
